Devnar School was founded in 1991 by Dr. A. Saibaba Goud, a leading Ophthalmologist of the Country who is also the recipient of Dr. B.C. Roy National Award in 2004 for his outstanding services in the field of social medical relief. At the time of the inception of the school, there were only 4 students and within a span of 28 years, Devnar School is acclaimed as the best institution for the Visually Challenged in India, with 500+ students aspiring to reach lofty heights of achievement hitherto thought impossible for Visually Challenged children. Devnar School provides all that is necessary to bring out the best in the students. Their abilities outshine the disability to such an extent that the visitors leave the school humbled by the unconquerable spirit, perseverance, and performance of the students. Some of the contributory factors for this phenomenal success are listed here.
- Mrs. Jyothi Saibaba Goud, Correspondent of the School is assisting Dr. Goud in running the school and hostel.
- All the children are provided free board, lodging and education. We have 500+ Blind children in the school, the biggest in the World for visually challenged.
- Residential English medium School from Nursery to 10th Class: The School is equipped with all infrastructures on par with international standard. The school curriculum is designed in such way that the students are taught academics, typewriting, computer skills (Basic), games, sports, music, dance etc.
- English Medium Junior and Degree College for Visually Challenged
- Since 2012 every year two or three children are getting admission in to National Law Schools.
- Three boys from our school have passed out CA examination.
- We are also regularly conducting school children eye check-up Programs and rural eye camps and distribute medicines, free Glasses, select patients for Cataract operations, these cataract patients are operated with IOL implantation free of charge at our hospital. They are provided free transport, food and medicines.
- Our School is adjudged as the Best Institution in the country, on 3rd December 2002, and on 3rd December 2008 President of India gave this award.
- We have received award from His Excellency Shri. Ram Nath Kovind, President of India on 3rd December, 2017 at New Delhi.
- We have received Best Braille Printing Press in the Country award from His Excellency Shri. N. VENKAIAH NAIDU, Vice President of India on 3rd December, 2019 at, Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Today our institute is standing as role model in the country in the area of education of the visually impaired and empowerment with Four Computer labs.

- Modification to E.V.Ms: Dr. A. Saibaba Goud contribution to Indian polity is very significant. A successful modification is made in the Electronic Voting machine by printing the names of candidates in Braille and this enables the Visually Challenged to exercise their franchise in dignity, without the assistance of any other person. This was successfully used in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkand, Bihar, West Bengal and Kerala and now whole country in 2004.
- Sports highlights: Devnar School team plays cricket at the state, national and international levels.
- Chess tournaments: We are conducting All India Chess Tournament every since 10 years.
DEVNAR CREATES WORLD RECORD
Fifty-Six Visually Challenged children are taking 10th Class board examination from Devnar School for the Blind in April / May, 2021 conducted by the Govt. of Telangana from one school.
